What is Stable Blend™?

Stable Blend™ is small, firm pellets of compressed wood. When exposed to moisture from water or urine each pellet expands and absorbs the moisture to wick it away from the rest of the bedding and the animals themselves.

Why use Stable Blend™?

Stable Blend™ offers several advantages over traditional animal bedding including:

• Safe and Effective
  Because the pellets are made by simply compressing wood particles, there are no potentially harmful binding agents or other chemicals on the bedding. This compression means each pellet, when damp, will expand to many times its original size and absorb an astounding volume of moisture. However, the pellets also contain the moisture, keeping it from spreading to adjacent bedding more effectively than other materials. Stable Blend™ is ounce per ounce and penny for penny much more absorbent than other bedding products.
• Comfort
  Small pellet size makes a smoother, more comfortable bed for animals and can be moistened with plain water to slightly relax the pellets to create a fluffier bed, if desired. Stable Blend's™ wicking action keeps animals drier and absorbs odors better than other bedding with reduced ammonia.

  Stable Blend™ is easier and faster to clean than straw or shavings. Animal waste is simply picked out with regular forks and discarded, with very little soiled bedding beyond actual wet spots needing to be changed.

How to Use Stable Blend™

Stable Blend™ can be used as a complete bedding for box stalls, cages and other enclosures, or as a spot bedding for outdoor runs and paddocks.

For total bedding: Bed heavily to start, using five to seven 40-pound bags for a 12 x 12 stall with an absorbent base. Clean daily, discarding soiled bedding. Depending on the animal and underlying material (mats, decomposed granite, etc.) you will need to replenish bedding at the rate of approximately one to two bags per week.

For outdoor runs and paddocks: Use one 40-pound bag per wet area initially, cleaning daily and replenishing weekly. Use Stable Blend™ on each wet area as needed.

Fresh Stable Blend™ is also an ideal top dressing for flower and vegetable beds- it expands when dampened by irrigation and reduces weeds, runoff and evaporation. Great for gardens!
